Chronos was dedicated to Akron City Hospital in 1978 by the Howland Memorial Fund.

The foresight and generosity of our donors have helped grow the Summa Foundation since its beginning in 1977. Without your support, we couldn’t do the work we do, which is to support patient care, medical education and research through philanthropy. In other words, we strive to support our clinicians as they work to save lives every day. 
 
Providing oversight for the foundation is a Board of Directors, each of whom is elected and casts votes on matters affecting the operations of the foundation. The directors are elected for three-year-terms and can serve four consecutive terms.

A dedicated staff of development professionals is on hand to not only oversee the day-to-day operations of the foundation but also to assist our donors in choosing the charitable-giving options that serve their philanthropic needs in the most beneficial way.
